 Phil LaPorte
(PLaPorte@gsu.edu)
has twenty-five years
of experience teaching labor relations topics to labor organizations,
management groups and joint programs. He earned a B.A. in Government
from St. John’s University and a M.A. in Industrial Relations from the
University of Minnesota. During his tenure with Georgia State
University he has held appointments in several colleges as an Assistant
Professor, Assistant Director, and Director. He was appointed Chairman
of the Atlanta Civil Service Board in 1987 by Mayor Andrew Young and
appointed to a second term by the late Maynard Jackson. He is a labor
arbitrator serving on the panels of the American Arbitration Association,
the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, the National Mediation Board
and numerous permanent panels. He is a member of the Georgia Labor
Management Conference’s Board of Directors and Chair of the Atlanta
Industrial Relations Research Association’s program committee. |
